Performer alias guidelines

In light of the recent poll on our Discord server and the subsequent discussion, we are implementing a significant change to our guidelines.

Previously, we encouraged and permitted the addition of any relevant aliases to a performer's profile. While this approach was beneficial for performer discovery, it incurred a substantial time cost while offering limited value to most users.

As a result, we are revising the naming structure guidelines to limit aliases to usernames from approved networks or professional adult credits. The updated guidelines are as follows:

Primary name & aliases

  1. Use FirstName LastName as the primary name, or fall back to the unique username from the approved network.
  2. Include usernames as aliases of added performer accounts from approved networks.
  3. Names from professional adult credits can be added as aliases.
  4. Social media accounts can be used to verify other names associated with the adult work. Must be properly documented in the comments.
  5. Do not add social media or other non-network usernames as aliases.
  6. Do not add legal names unless they were used as an adult credit.
  7. Properly source each name and alias. Either by submitted links or in the comments.
  8. Name and alias fields are case-insensitive; do not add different capitalization variations.

Guidelines update

Following the v0.6.x stash-box release some new fields were added which requires new guidelines.

  1. New section for production dates were added. Listed under scenes guidelines Production dates section.
  2. New section for studio aliases were added. Listed under studios guidelines Aliases section.
  3. In addition, performers couple type account guideline was changed. You can see the updated section under performers guidelines Couple type accounts section.

Some other guidelines were also reworded or additional comments added to make them easier to understand.

Update to stash-box v0.6.8

We updated to the new version of stash-box, which brings some great new features.

  1. Native notifications - you can access them from the icon next to your username.
  2. URL search - you can now search for performers/scenes by URL.
  3. Performer draft URLs - URLs matching a valid site will now be automatically added to the links tab.
  4. Edit updates - they are no longer limited to one. Each update now will reset present votes. This should help with situations where an edit gets stuck due to a single blocking vote after being fixed.
  5. Existing performer check - when submitting a new performer you will be notified if the matching performer already exists based on name/URL.
  6. Fingerprints list - All your fingerprints are now available in the list. You can access it by heading to your profile and clicking on My Fingerprints.
  7. Current age - on the performer page the age will be displayed next to the year now.
  8. Death date - a new field for the death date was added to the performer page.
  9. Production date - a new field for the production date was added to the scene page. Pending formal guideline.
  10. Studio aliases - a new field for studio aliases was added to the studio page. Pending formal guideline.
  11. New hair color - white hair color option was added.

Added a new guideline for Performers and Studios under links section. It's worded in a way that it's strongly recommended, but is not reason enough to reject submission over it.

Avoid adding shortened links. If shortened URL redirects to a full link, use that instead.

Reasoning for it is simple:

  • It leads to duplicate links. Very common case with links scraped from StashDB.
  • Another case is that sometimes it excludes valuable information. E.g. ManyVids shortened links doesn't include performer ID, which can be used to lookup details even from defunct performers.

New Domain

As many of you might now, we had a lot of issues with .xyz domain so to try to mitigate those issues we bought new domain fansdb.cc.

Both domains will operate for the moment, but the new fansdb.cc domain will be the main one moving forward. Old fansdb.xyz domain will expire on 2024-05-01 and won't be renewed after that.

Big Change with FansDB

After some internal discussions, we decided to expand the scope of approved platforms on FansDB. This would extend to pay-per-view (PPV) content of already approved platforms that was previously not allowed.
